@MartinSellner_Martin Sellner (@MartinSellner_)I really love France.I’m a great fan of Stendhal, Molière, Dumas, Volkoff, Houellebecq, Raspail, Rimbaud, Verlaine, Zola, and many other authors. During the Defend Europe mission in the Med, I even had At Sea by Guy de Maupassant with me.
French thinkers, from Maurras and Barrès, Bergson, Althusser, Merleau-Ponty, and Derrida to Camus, Faye, de Benoist, and Venner, have heavily influenced my thinking.
France is an absolutely unique country in the history of Europe. Its development of nationalism, its struggle between universalism and rationalism, and its romanticism and regional identity have created an amazing spectacle unique in the world. On top of that, it has a revolutionary and passionate people who have often kick-started major turns in the history of ideas in Europe.
What I like most about it is the youth culture and the beautiful military and scout songs that I was able to learn during the French summer universities.
In 2012, it was the bravery and the political and aesthetic vision of French Identitarians that helped us revolutionize patriotic activism in the German-speaking sphere. I made amazing friends there. And now I even have a French sister-in-law and French nephews.I would not be the man I am today without French literature, poetry, and philosophy. I also deeply love the French language, which, I have to say, is the most beautiful in Europe.
So it really hurts me on a personal level that I’m now banned for life from entering France.
